Sketch Challenge Friday
It’s another Friday Challenge with Buffy, Susan, and Jackie! WOOT! This is a sketch from Jackie. She took it from the 2016 Occasions Catalog (p. 36).
Sketches where you see the final version can be easier, because you get ideas. But sometimes, they’re harder, because you’ve seen the original. But this one seemed to come together fairly quickly – once I got an idea of where I wanted to take it.
Besides the sketch, I got inspiration from a card Sara Douglass and Shelli Gardner (CEO and Former CEO/Co-Founder of Stampin’ Up!) gave to one of the million dollar sales achievers. You can see that card here.
My card isn’t quite as elaborate as the one in Shelli’s blog, but I’m still very happy with how it turned out.
I used Perfect Plum and Marina Mist for the butterflies and banner. I think it’s a very soft, pretty combination. The Whisper White layer seemed a little blah, so I embossed it with the Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. And then I flicked a little Marina Mist ink on it and the doily for good measure.
I kept the banner in the sketch, but layered a Tea Lace Paper Doily over it to soften it a little. Oh, ok. I used the doily because I have a few I need to use up before they retire and I load up on the new ones.
What project with butterflies is complete without a little metallic thread, right? I added some of the silver thread behind the butterfly, then punched the Congratulations sentiment (from And Many More) with the soon to be retired Word Window Punch. (*sob* Why? That’s my go to punch for sentiments. You’ll still be seeing it, even after it retires.)
Now, head over to Jackie’s and Susan’s blogs to see what they created. They always have something wonderful to share!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
Awesome card, Buffy! I love all the layers!

Thanks, Susan! It was fun. I’ve been slacking lately, so it was nice to do a more involved card.
