Good Advice – Stampin’ Up! In Colors

Good Advice – Stampin’ Up! In Colors

I read a very funny blog the other day. The author described the new Stampin’ Up! In Colors by personifying them. The descriptions were so cute, but the comment that stuck me was, “I decided to skip a step and just love them right off the bat.” What good advice that is! I always have one or two colors – Core Colors as well as In Colors – that I’m not really enamored with. And then – BAM! I see a color combo or another way to use the color and I can’t get enough.

I was that way with Watermelon Wonder. It was a bit bright for me. But I’ve been gravitating to it lately as a bright pink. Melon Mambo? Oh, no! Toooooo pink. And then I saw our new Pop of Pink designer series paper. GORGEOUS. Tempting Turquoise is in one of the new dsp cardstock packs, and I’m loving the look of that combination. Sahara Sand? Nope. Not gray, not sand, not “beige.” Too hard to use.

And then, I CASEd a card from the annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog and arrived at this.

Flower Shop, Stampin' Up!

First off, it uses Whisper White and Sahara Sand. Who knew??? I always used Very Vanilla with Sahara Sand, but this- This is lovely, I think. And then there’s that pop of Watermelon Wonder that I didn’t think I’d like.  And notice the white embossed vellum flower. How amazing does that look? Just a little ethereal, “Notice me, because I’m quiet,” statement.

This card was a contender for May classes, but it was a little more involved than I thought would be good. When you have a lot of people embossing and punching and stamping and flicking ink, it can get a little crazy. So this is just a “Wow, that’s a pretty card for a very special friend,” card. (Happy birthday, Sandy M!)

This card is a mix of products that are retiring and carrying over. The doily – retiring. Don’t be sad, though, because the replacements are gorgeous! The scallop circle punch – retiring. And this I am sad about. I love that we have lots of circle framelit options, but punching is so quick and easy. I won’t be getting rid of my oval and circle punches any time soon. Besides, the scallop circles make such lovely flower centers. The Iced Rhinestone Embellishments are also retiring. These are another lovely addition to a card. (Who am I kidding? I love all things rhinestone and glitter!)

Products carrying over – the ink and card stock, of course, and the metallic thread. (And two more yummy additions are coming!) And Teeny Tiny Wishes is also carrying over. It’s such a great set for so many events and celebrations. Flower Shop is one of my favorite flower sets, and it’s also returning. (YAY!)

Don’t forget that you only have a few more days to order from the 2015-16 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. Once June 1 gets here, stamp sets and accessories will be gone. Some may end up on the Clearance Rack, but you never know. So don’t miss out on a chance to stock up on your faves. Order today!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
