True confession: Sometimes I get stuck with color combinations. I have always used the Stampin’ Up! Color Coach for inspiration, but when it retired a couple years ago, I’ve been floundering. I know there are web sites that give you color ideas, but the color coach was so easy. Now I go for “old stand-bys” or use designer series paper color combinations for a springboard.

So imagine how thrilled I was when I put Peekaboo Peach, Emerald Envy, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla together and was totally wowed by it. It’s very fresh – but elegant and sophisticated at the same time. Wanna see?

CPC59, Petite Petals, Love & Affection, You've Got This

The sketch is not original. It’s the Craft Project Central “Creating Pretty Cards” sketch for May. It’s a great sketch. Check it out.

I decided to do a background using the “You’ve Got This” crosshatch pattern. I stamped it first in Sahara Sand, then stamped it again in Peekaboo Peach. I had half a Tea Lace Paper Doily that I needed to use before it retired, so I cut it up and placed it under the butterfly.

I used both the Bold Butterfly Framelits and Butterflies Thinlits dies for the butterfly, in Emerald Envy and Chocolate Chip. Then I added a row of Basic Pearl Jewels to the center. Before I adhered it to the card, I added some Gold Metallic Thread to the back.

And butterflies are always hanging out with flowers, right? I love this flower from the Petite Petals set. I stamped it in Peekaboo Peach on Peekaboo Peach, but I didn’t think it was quite bold enough. So I stamped three more in Chocolate Chip. Nice!

All that was left was a sentiment. Since I had originally planned to use the Affectionately Yours set, it was sitting on my table. The “sending a smile your way” sentiment seemed to fit.

Of course, it needed just a little something. I had just used Gold Glitter on another project so I didn’t want to jump back to that right away. Hmmm…what to use. I keep forgetting about Wink of Stella! I added a bit of that to each flower and decided to stop before I went too far.

So there you go! Original color combo with a CPC sketch. Give the sketch a try. It’s a lot of fun, and if you add a link to your card on the CPC site, you will be entered into a drawing to win a FREE subscription! For every 10 entries, a winner is chosen, so you have a good chance of winning!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Such a pretty card Buffy. The butterfly wonderful as your focal point… and the little flowers look great framing it.
