Fun Fold Friday

Stamp Off New Logo

It’s time for the Friday Stamp-Off! I’m very happy with my entry this week, because I didn’t think I was going to make it. Susan & Jackie both said, “Hey, if you need more time, we can reschedule.” Aren’t they amazing?? But I was able to squeak out a card while Amelia took her very short nap today.

Fun Fold Cards, Stampin' Up!

This week’s challenge is a Fun Fold. There are so many possibilities with this one. I thought about a pleated card (I haven’t done that one yet), or another collar fold. I even tried to get info from Susan & Jackie so I wouldn’t duplicate their ideas. Susan showed me her card, and you need to be sure to check her blog because it’s amazing! Jackie was very secretive. She only gave up a few folds she didn’t do, so be sure to check her blog because – well, because, like Susan, she’s always amazing.

Finally I decided to do a Swinging Z-fold card. Dawn Griffith showed a super cute set of Z-fold cards at #OnStage2016 using the stamp set she helped design  – One Wild Ride. (That’s a perk for being a $1,000,000 seller.)  So I thought a Z-fold would be fun. And my friend Deborah Smart just posted a Swinging Z that was so cute. So – swinging Z it was. I checked Splitcoaststampers for instructions, printed out six pages, and then realized I’ve made this before.

Back in the day, we called it a “Flip Flop” card. And – wait. We have a die for that. Instead of cutting and measuring (or maybe the other way around would work better), I’d just use our last remaining flip flop card die (which is retiring in a couple weeks, so order it now.)

So here it is – my “Swinging Z, Flip Flop, Circle Card Thinlits card.” This is the front.

Sitting Here, Stampin' Up!

I used a stamp set from the new annual catalog – Sitting Here – for the images, and the new Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper for the two sides. This is such a gorgeous pack of paper. I love the colors and the designs, don’t you?

Here’s the card opened.

Sitting Here, Stampin' Up!

I was going to use a sentiment from the Sitting Here set, but “thinking of you” from Teeny Tiny Wishes seemed to fit a little better.

If you don’t have the Circle Card Thinlits, you should order them now. They’ll be retiring May 31 to make room for lots of new thinlits and framelits in the new catalog. The 1-3/4″ Scallop Punch that I used for the images is also retiring, so don’t miss out! Order today!

Please take a look at Susan’s and Jackie’s blogs to see their fun folds. And feel free to play with our challenge. Post a link to your project to any of our blog comments. We’d love to see it!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

I had totally forgotten about that die! Now I am sad it is retiring because there is not much time to use it. Beautiful card!

Thanks, Susan! That die was like my “builder punches.” I used it a couple times and that was all. But it is a lot of fun, actually takes less paper than a “regular” card, and has all those extra pieces that are perfect for so many other projects. Sad to see it go.

Buffy, great card and opportunity to show the new set. Love the combo with cat, and bird. I too had missed that this one is retiring, which is really irritating!

Thanks, Jackie! I love the “Sitting Here” set. And that cat is just so much like Ashlynn (right down to the disdainful expression on its face), I had to get it.

Buffy, I just love how you put the cat in the basket – and he seems to be trying his best to ignore that cheeky little bird! 🙂 (I’m hanging onto this framelit, because – well, I’m lazy! and it’s easy to use). Thanks for the sneak peek at the new goodies!

Deborah, you’re so funny. He does look like he’s saying, “I don’t see you. I don’t see you.” I’m probably keeping that die as well. After looking at the instructions, I’ve decided I must also be lazy. The die is so much easier.

Buffy, this is darling, partly because I love cats, have one, also ordered the stamp set(I’m a demonstrator too!), and it’ s just a really cute way to use this set. Good job!

Thank you so much! It’s a really fun set – and that cat looks just like my Ashlynn. (Although she’d never let a bird get that close.) I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the set as well!

We must be on the same wave length today. I just finished doing a couple fun fold cards, and didn’t know it was fun fold Friday. I used the same paper you used, however, alas, I don’t have that stamp set — YET. I am also sad to see that die retiring soon, but plan to keep it because I love to use all those pieces. Great card.
