Gold Fish

You did read that right. It’s not goldfish. It’s a gold fish. This is one of the swaps I received at #Onstage2016 last month. I thought it was so striking. Maybe it’s because I have had a hard time using the fish in By the Tide. I loved the set, but the fish reminded me a bit of that singing fish they hawked on TV commercials. But I love what Sheila Miller did with this.

By the Tide, Stampin' Up!Is it the colors? The black embossed fish on gold foil? The bold geometrics? Maybe it’s all of those things, but I just really liked this card. The designer was Sheila Miller – and when I looked at her info on the back of the card, I discovered she’s from Bridgewater, VA – which is just down the road about an hour.

Sheila used squares of Hello Honey, Old Olive, Gold Foil, and Basic Black to create a nice geometric pattern on the Rose Red layer. She stamped the seaweed in more Rose Red, and embossed the fish with Black Embossing Powder.

While By the Tide and the Black Embossing Powder are retiring, the card stock and Sprinkles of Life stamp set are returning in the Stampin’ Up! 2016-17 Annual Catalog. Be sure to order the stamp set and embossing powder before they’re gone! And the new square framelits are going to make this layout even easier to recreate. In fact, I may do that tomorrow if I get a chance to play a bit.

You can see all the retiring products here. Order soon; some are already gone – and all accessories are “while supplies last.”

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
