Stamp Off Color Challenge

Stamp Off New Logo

It’s FRIDAY!! I love our Stamp Off! Friday challenges. It’s like a virtual play date with Susan & Jackie.

This week is a color challenge. Here’s the color palette.

5_6_ColorChallenge

This uses two of my favorite colors (Calypso Coral and Elegant Eggplant). The brightness of those two is kind of balanced by the So Saffron, and Smoky Slate makes a nice neutral. Here’s my card. (Actually it’s my second card, because I didn’t like the first one I made. It was another idea that sounded great in my head, but didn’t translate to ink and card stock.)

Garden in Bloom, Stampin' Up!

I stamped a sheet of So Saffron with some of the flowers from Garden in Bloom. I’m so happy this set is returning to the new catalog! I haven’t used it enough at all. The outline is Smoky Slate, then I stamped the centers with Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral. (See what I mean about our fun challenges? Blushing Bride isn’t one of the colors in the palette, but no one is going to get upset because I used it. Well, maybe Susan. Blushing Bride isn’t her favorite pink. But I’m trying to wear her down.)

I’m not sure what size the So Saffron card stock is. I think it was around 4″ x 3-1/2″. I had to cut a bit more off the bottom so the sentiment would fit. It’s such an easy layout. Carrie Cudney (I think) demonstrated this at #OnStage2016 a few weeks ago. She used designer series paper (dsp) – and what a wonderful way to use up that dsp! I tend to hoard it, so this will help me use up a lot of my retiring paper to make room for the gorgeous new designs. For my card, though, I used stamped card stock, because I didn’t have dsp in the colors I needed.

Simply cut the layer on a diagonal – and you have a place for the sentiment or another image or ribbon or washi tape or anything else you want to put in the space. Cool, right? I stamped the sentiment from Fabulous Four (sadly, this one is retiring) in Elegant Eggplant on the Calypso Coral card. And trust me, that really is Elegant Eggplant. I know it looks like black ink. It even looks black in person. But, honestly, it’s Elegant Eggplant. The butterfly outlines are full strength Elegant Eggplant; I filled them in with more Elegant Eggplant but stamped off two times first.

After the card was all glued together, I added Gold Wink of Stella to the flower centers and Clear Wink of Stella to the butterfly wings.

Go check out what Jackie & Susan have created for you. I know both of them will have gorgeous projects! And remember – you only have through May 31 to order products that are retiring from the 2015-16 Stampin’ Up! Catalog and Occasions catalog. So order today!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
