Another Stamp Off Friday

Stamp Off New Logo

It’s another Stamp Off Friday! This is a watercolor challenge from Susan.

Watercolor

Susan’s taking classes on watercoloring, so she’s an expert! Me – not so much, but I do love to watercolor.

Instead of stamping an image and watercoloring it, I watercolored a background, then stamped the image. (And I used almost the same colors as the challenge. I didn’t even realize that until just now.)

The Open Sea, Stampin' Up!

I did a watercolor wash on Watercolor Paper using Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, and Hello Honey ink and an Aqua Painter. After it dried, I stamped the ship from The Open Sea over the “water.” As I was waiting for the watercolor wash to dry, I decided to add a little ink to the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper as well. I colored the sea parts with Bermuda Bay classic ink and an Aqua Painter, and the land with a little Hello Honey and an Aqua Painter.

This card seemed to need something rugged, so I added a little burlap ribbon trim to the card. And while I was searching for something else, I found these cute little triangle epoxy stickers left over from a Project Life kit. Perfect! They kind of look like they’re pointing North, I think. Well, maybe Northwest. But still…they’re guiding the ship to a safe harbor.

I can wait to see what Susan and Jackie have done! Last week we all used the same dies for our cards, so it will be interesting to see if we had the same idea again or if we took different approaches. (I’m guessing different.) Take a peek at their blogs, then give the challenge a try!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Buffy, I love this card. The watercoloring on the image panel and the DSP is wonderful. The epoxy bits are a great addition.

Wow – double watercolouring! I was wondering where you go that DSP, until I read that you did the colouring yourself, Buffy. Awesome 🙂

Love the simplicity of the coloring. Gives me hope I could attempt it. Neat tip about coloring DSP. Thanks Buffy.
