Birthday Slider

No, not a burger or chicken slider. A slider card. I saw a super cute card on my friend Jackie’s blog (here), and I had to give it a shot. It was one of those ideas that pops into your head at night, and you just can’t sleep until you see if it works.

Tap tap tap, Stampin' Up!

Here’s the front. I used the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits for the front opening. The slider part is 1″ x 4-1/4″. I notched the right edge, then added a Chevron punch to make it stand out. Not that I think whoever I give it to won’t know to pull. But you never know.

To decorate the slider portion, I used the “note” image from the Tap Tap Tap set, then attached it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. This way, when you pull the slider, it doesn’t pull all the way out. I stamped all the images – the typewriter (for those of you who don’t know what a typewriter is, it was what we used before computers), the “tap tap tap”s, and the note tag are all stamped in Early Espresso ink.

Here’s what you see when you pull the tab.

Tap tap tap, Stampin' Up!

Cute, right? It was so simple, too. It’s like someone’s typing the message. Maybe Snoopy. This set always makes me think of him. This greeting is from Happy Happenings.

I think interactive cards are so fun, especially for kids. Oh, who am I trying to fool? I’ve been playing with this all afternoon. If you decide to create a slider card, you’ll want to stamp the greeting that’s under the slider a little farther to the left than I did. I centered mine (kind of), and it works, but it would be better if it were more to the left.

Give it a try! You can use lots of different options for your opening and slider – the PLXSU framelits that I used, or Chalk Talk, Lots of Labels,, or Banners framelits. You can even simply cut with a paper trimmer if you want.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
