March Demo Challenge, Part 1

We have a lovely group of demonstrators who meet every month for challenges, swaps, meetings, and just to have fun. Some of them are on my team, but others are “orphans” who don’t have a local upline or sidelines. We have such a wonderful time. We discuss Stampin’ Up! news and try to help everyone find their way with some of the new policies and procedures. And then – we stamp! Sometimes we have a make & take; other months we have a challenge.

In March, our challenge was to design a card for a shoebox swap that used at least one retiring In Color and could be completed in seven minutes or less. It was fun to watch everyone panic when I said we’d set a timer. I was kidding, of course!

I was so happy with the creative projects everyone brought. Most of us had cards, but Chris had a darling 3-D project using the Playful Pals bundle from the Occasions Catalog. I’m going to show you half the projects today and half another day. Chris’s project will be in the second half, because…Well, Miss Amelia found it and she fell in love before I could take a photo. I think it’s probably in her toy box, but I’m going to have to find it (and probably do a few repairs) before I can post it. We were all thrilled that Chris was using the Playful Pals, because none of us have it. (More on the cute, fun factor later!)

So here are the cards. This one is mine.

Teeny Tiny Wishes, Stampin' Up!

Buffy’s Card

You can see I used all five retiring In Colors for this. I punched the butterflies with the Bitty Butterfly punch, lined four up on the left, then inserted the Blackberry Bliss butterfly into a punched Elegant Butterfly space. Easy! Since it was March, I had a little of the Sale-a-bration Glitter Tape on the card as well.

Sheltering Tree, Stampin' Up!

Carol’s Card

I love Carol’s card. The background uses the leaves from Sheltering Tree. I may have gone a little overboard on mine. Carol’s original was gorgeous! We had two stamp sets, so it went really fast. We used two different colors for the background (I’m thinking Pear Pizzazz and Lost Lagoon, but I’m not sure about that. It was, after all, a month ago!)

Gift from the Garden, Stampin' Up!

Liz’s Card

Liz (and Sarah) had adorable 3″ x 3″ cards. Of course, Liz used the Gift from the Garden set. She’s an avid gardener, so this was no surprise. These were so cute, and that little flower was a perfect embellishment.

Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

Sarah’s Card

Sarah used the Flowering Fields Sale-a-bration set. I love the pinks on the flowers. And I had never paired Sahara Sand with Blackberry Bliss before. Ugh. Wish I had seen this before the retirement of Blackberry Bliss! They’re beautiful together.

I’ll show you the other four projects tomorrow. We had lots of Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon in this group. The next group has Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, and some Tangelo Twist. Remember – if you need to order any of the retiring In Colors, order quickly, because once the retiring list comes out, they’ll go fast. Don’t be disappointed!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
