This week’s “stamp off” is a sketch from Jackie. I love it. Actually, I loved it so much, I made two cards for the sketch. Sadly, I made the first one weeks ago, and I have no idea where I put it. I didn’t photograph it first, and I think I sent it to someone. And that’s why we make cards, right? To send, not to hoard?
Here’s Jackie’s sketch.
Here’s my card. I’m obviously back in floral mode!
Here’s how I was inspired to create this card. I found the Whisper White rose die-cut on my stamp table when I was cleaning it off. (Love those Rose Garden Thinlits, don’t you? And bundles are wonderful! Who doesn’t want to save 15%?) Hmmmm. This could work. I wanted to use some of my retiring In Colors – so I stamped the rose image on Whisper White card stock using Mellow Moss and Tangelo Twist Stampin’ Write Markers. You don’t see the stamped image; it’s just a guide.
I colored the rose with Tangelo Twist and Mellow Moss Classic Stampin’ Pads and an aqua painter, then cut it out. Using the Fine-tip Glue Pen, I layered the die cut over the stamped image. Perfect!
All that was left was to decide on the ribbon, banners, or other elements for the skinny layers. I love the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape, so I used pieces of those. I covered a thin strip of Whisper White card stock with the Mint Macaron Washi Tape so it would have a little more stability when I notched the end.
The “yellow” layer is Hello Honey, and the card is Cajun Craze. I usually use a lot of Cajun Craze in the fall, but not much in the spring and summer. Botanical Gardens has changed that, since it’s a major color in the dsp, as well as a color in the card stock pack.
Finally, I added sequins to the left corner. I think these are from a recent kit, either a Paper Pumpkin or the Watercolor Wishes. A little bag of these was also found on my stamp table. (I really must start putting things away, don’t you think?)
By the way – if you want any of the retiring In Color products (card stock, ink, refills, markers, ribbon), order them now! Once the retiring list comes out, they’ll be gone in a flash. (Older colors sometimes come back as core colors later if there’s a color renovation. We haven’t heard of one this year, but one never knows…)
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
