I haven’t done the Shaving Cream Background technique for a long time. Mostly because it’s messy, but also because there are so many new ideas floating around. But when one of my Inkerbelles sidelines made a group of shaving cream cards, I had to do a Throwback Thursday. Actually, it was more of a Throwback Tuesday. I made the backgrounds on Tuesday night, then let them dry and cut them up into swatches for cards for this month’s classes.
I used the Shaving Cream-ed card stock for the coffee cup using the Cups and Kettle Framelits dies. I sponged a tiny bit of Lost Lagoon ink on the edges of the cup to make it stand out a little more.
The heart is also a Cups and Kettle die cut. Since the Rich Razzleberry card stock is behind the Whisper White layer, I die cut the heart from the center to save a scrap of paper. I’m nothing if not frugal.
I’m not sure you can tell from the photo, but the “doily” the cup is sitting on is a 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle punched from a Silver Foil sheet. We cut them in half, then punched 1/8″ circles in each scallop with the 1/8″ handheld circle punch.
The sentiments are from Balloon Celebration. I love those sayings, don’t you? And they coordinate so well with the Cups and Kettle dies, as well as the A Nice Cuppa stamp set.
The final touches are the It’s My Party Designer Washi Tape and Pool Party 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon. Even though I used Marina Mist and Soft Sky refills for the background, Lost Lagoon and Pool Party coordinate really well. Before I added the coffee cup, I tousled some Silver Metallic Thread behind it to look like steam.
It was fun to see the different interpretations at class. Some used the coffee cup, but others used tea cups or the tea pot. My stampers are so creative!

Beautiful card Buffy. Those colors all just flow together so nicely, with the shave cream completing the look!

Awesome card, Buffy. I love the sparkle of the Pool Party ribbon. I will have to do a shaving cream card soon. I haven’t done one of those in a while.

Thanks, Susan! Just a reminder – do a lot of pages at one time. It’s messy.
