It’s time for another Stamp Off! with Susan and Jackie. Susan gave us the color challenge for today – and it’s a doozy. I can’t believe Susan chose these colors. She usually uses lots of Brights, but these colors are very subtle and – dare I say it? – almost vintage. I hope she’s not trapped in a parallel universe or something.
Here are the colors for the challenge.
These were fun to work with. My first attempt was a total flop, though. I was trying to use In the Meadow and Work of Art and be more like Jackie. It didn’t work. At all. I turned it over and tried on the other side. It was just as bad, so I trashed it. I had wanted to really stretch myself and not use grungy or flower stamps. But in the end, that’s exactly what I did.
First I stamped the grid from Timeless Textures in Blushing Bride, then I added Lost Lagoon splatters – also from Timeless Textures. In fact, all the stamps are from Timeless Textures except for the sentiment.
The “greenery” is stamped in Mint Macaron, and then I added the Sahara Sand circles. I wanted “Happy Birthday” to stand out a little more, so it’s stamped in Soft Suede with “to you” in Lost Lagoon. These are two of the Perfect Pairings stamps from Sale-a-bration. You can get the set free with a $50 order!
I opted to stamp on Very Vanilla, since it was such a soft color palette. And the card is mounted to a Mint Macaron card base.
I actually made two cards for the challenge. We voted at my craft day today, and this one was the unanimous winner. (Carol – you probably would have voted for the other one, since Mint Macaron isn’t as prominent on it.) I thought about sharing both cards today, but I think I’ll keep the other one for one of those days when I haven’t had time to make anything. (No, it’s not the In the Meadow/Work of Art one. That one will stay in the trash can.)
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
