Vintage Friends

My favorite style is vintage. There’s just something about faded, ripped, sponged paper that speaks to me. And, of course, most of my friends are “vintage,” because they’re at least my age.

Stampin’ Up! has some wonderful vintage elements. Some of my current favorites are the Love Blossoms Embellishments Kit and Timeless Textures stamp set from the Occasions Catalog. And, of course, Blushing Bride is my “go-to” pink when I’m working on a vintage project. No other pink will do. Ever. Not even the retired Crisp Cantaloupe, which, Susan, isn’t a pink! Just sayin’.

Here’s a card I made for my vintage friends. I used the Birthday Blooms stamp set from the Occasions Catalog, the Love Blossoms Embellishments Kit, and Timeless Treasures. All my favorites. (And, of course, Blushing Bride.)

Rose Wonder, Timeless Textures, Stampin' Up!I used a fun technique – Emboss Resist – for the rose. Stamp the image in an embossing ink (like VersaMark), then heat emboss. I used clear powder, because I wanted the Very Vanilla card stock to show through. Then simply sponge ink over the image. The embossing resists the ink like magic! Use a paper towel to buff the image, because while the ink won’t cover the embossed area, it will sit on top, and you don’t want it to come off on someone’s hands or clothes.

After all the embossing and sponging, I fussy cut the rose. The rest of the card was simple. I used several stamps from the Timeless Textures set on the Crumb Cake layer. Then I tore all the edges on the Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride layers, distressed them a little, then sponged with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

The ribbon, gold heart doily, and pearls are all from the Love Blossoms Embellishments kit. And while there are beautiful Blushing Bride pearls in the kit, I opted for the basic pearl jewels for this card.

One last thing – I added a tiny bit of Wink of Stella (WOS) on the flower. It’s not super obvious, but it just adds a little something.

It’s easier to see in real life. My lighting just didn’t capture the WOS really well. But you can see the Gold WOS in the leaves. I’m so glad Stampin’ Up! included this in the Occasions Catalog. It’s such a fun product!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Of course I lOVE it! It’s a rose, it’s “fussy cut”, it’s pink, and it’s appealingly beautiful. Great card!
