Simple Birthday

Here’s a super simple birthday card idea.

Rose Wonder, Stampin' Up!Here’s how easy it is. I cut a piece of the striped design from the English Garden designer series paper to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and layered it to the front of a Whisper White card. Then I stamped “Happy Birthday” from the new Rose Wonder set from the Occasions catalog, trimmed it to make a banner, then layered it to a Blush Blossom banner. Easy!

I was inspired by one of the cards in the Watercolor Wishes card kit from the Annual Catalog. When I get ready to send it, I’ll add a little embellishment to the banners. Maybe I’ll die-cut one of the clips from the Project Life Paper Clips Thinlits. That would be cute, don’t you think?

I posted this card, because sometimes we think cards have to be elaborate and time-consuming (and expensive!). But it’s ok to send simple, elegant cards as well. This one takes very few supplies – two colors of card stock, one color of ink, and some designer series paper. Of course, if you choose to add an embellishment, it’s a little more, but it’s still simple and quick. And whoever receives it will love it, because it’s handmade and from your heart.

Here’s a quick tip for cutting banners. I clip about 1/4″ – 1/2″ at the center of  one side of the card stock. Then clip on a diagonal from each edge to the top of the center cut. Repeat on the other side, if you want a double banner. It’s almost always perfect. And even if it’s not, that’s part of the charm, right?

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
