…well, we couldn’t build a snowman, that’s for sure. I don’t think I’ve been this hot since August. It’s not really that hot outside, but when you’re baking it adds an extra 10 degrees. I’m sitting here in shorts and a tank top and I’m still clammy. Granted, I am at “that age” where I’m hot all the time (and not “hot” in a good way!), but – sheesh! I want to turn on the air conditioning, but Mike keeps saying, “It’s December!” So, um, can we open the pool?? (Ok, that may be a bit extreme.) Thankfully, my stamp room is in the basement, which is farther from the stove and a little cooler.

Yesterday it was rainy, and my dear husband – who doesn’t have a hormonal thing going on – was chilly. So he turned on the gas logs. When I came home, I thought there had been a fire. I spent several hours downstairs stamping and wrapping gifts. So – thanks to Mike, here’s a Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek for you.

This set is called In the Meadow. It’s a great set if you like to watercolor – and I do. I was playing the other day, and stamped the deer image twice – once in Memento ink on Very Vanilla card stock, and once on Watercolor Paper with VersaMark ink. I embossed that one with black embossing powder. I wanted to see if there was a huge difference between using Stampin’ Write Markers and an Aqua Painter on Watercolor Paper and alcohol ink (in this case, our retired Blendabilities). I actually liked the Stampin’ Write Marker image better, so that’s the one used here.

After I colored the deer, I cut them out, then stamped the trees on another piece of Whisper White card stock. Then I layered the deer back in, using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used my Aqua Painter and some Garden Green ink for the trees and grass – and totally forgot to color the trunks. Oops!

The sky is Marina Mist. The fun thing about using Stampin’ Up! classic ink or markers and an Aqua Painter is you can dilute the ink as much or as little as you want, so you can have muted or bold colors using the same stamp pad or marker.

The only thing on this card you can’t order by January 5 is the Woodland embossing folder (on the Marina Mist layer). It will be back in June, though! (Or in May if you are a demonstrator.) The card stock, “And Many More” sentiment set, punches, aqua painters, and ink are available now. “In the Meadow” will be available January 5.

Please know that I’m not complaining about the weather. “They” (whoever “they” are) were calling for a horrible winter here, with more snow than normal. I think God heard our prayers, and sent the snow elsewhere (apologies to my friends in the Northwest! Guess God loves me more. HA! Just kidding.) Now “they” are saying we’re going to have a very mild winter – and if by “mild” they mean “spring-like temperatures,” “they” are correct. Last week was a little chilly, and I didn’t care for it. I’m really happy with spring in December. My only complaint is with the man who nearly froze me for 30 years because he was overly warm and I was always cold. Now that we’ve switched places, I see what he had to put up with all those years. I think I’m going to buy him some sweater vests to wear. Somehow, I just can’t picture that without chuckling.
