We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Christmas Projects…

…to bring you this.

Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog, Memories in the Making, Bloomin' Heart, Love Blossoms

Pretty, right? I’m working on a design project for January, using new products from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. This was going to be part of it, but it’s such a different style from the rest, I decided not to.

First, let me say that there’s not much in the Occasions catalog that I don’t want. It was very difficult to limit my pre-order earlier this month. (Note to family: The peanut butter turkey you’ll be eating for Christmas dinner is because we have vegetarians in the family. It’s not because I overspent my budget. Really!)

Seriously, I didn’t overspend the budget. With the new Stampin’ Up! compensation plan, demonstrators get points for different things, like sales, recruiting, and promotions. We can use the points on product (and not just the products they pick for us; we can use them on any catalog product!!), events, and incentive trips. Since I know I’ll never have enough points for the incentive trip, and the Salt Lake City event in April is the same time as our spring concert, I opted to use some of my “flex points” for catalog products – so more than half of my order was free. WOOT!

So enough blabbering. You want to know about the products I used. My absolute favorite group of products in the catalog is the Love Blossoms Suite. There’s a 6″ x 6″ designer series paper stack, a gorgeous embellishment kit that is so much cuter in person (even though it’s adorable in the catalog), the Bloomin’ Love stamp set, Blushing Bride glimmer paper, and the set of Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies.

I used the glimmer paper and thinlits for this card. My idea was to make a set of cards with the new Project Life Memories in the Making card collection and coordinating PLXSU Memories in the Making stamp set. Both are in the Occasions catalog, along with an accessory pack. They’re available separately or as a discounted bundle.

This started out with a Project Life card as the background. It’s a Pink Pirouette background with little white hearts. It just seemed to be asking for the Bloomin’ Heart – plus I wanted to play with the new Big Shot Die Brush. (Side note – if you have any dies with little pieces, like words, or the butterflies or ornaments, or the Bloomin’ Heart, you’re going to need this brush. It works wonderfully at getting those little pieces out of your die and helping “unstick” the die-cut.)

After cutting multiple hearts from various colors and paper styles, I settled on Blushing Bride card stock with glimmer paper flower accents. The I {heart} you sentiment is in the Memories in the Making stamp set. I punched an Itty Bitty Accents heart from Blushing Bride glimmer paper to add a little more color and interest. The little flowers needed “something,” so I added metal rimmed pearls. (Thanks, Christy!! I finally found mine, so I can pay you back.)

So, since the heart background card was the only product from the Project Life kit, I’ve decided to send this to someone who has a birthday in a few weeks instead of using it for the project. And since those pearls are kind of bulky, it has to be someone I’ll see in person so it doesn’t have to be mailed. Someone who loves pretty, feminine cards with pearls. Someone who’s probably reading this right now and thinking it’s her. (Yes, Mom. It’s your birthday card. Now neither you nor Dad will be surprised. You know I can never keep secrets when it comes to cards and gifts.)

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Don’t forget to check out the online “Year-end Sale.” You can add regularly priced catalog products to your order as well. And be sure to let me know if you want copies of he Occasions catalog and Sale-a-bration brochure.

Have a wonderful day!

I’m behind on my blog reading and I just saw this. All I can say is Wow! And you know this is coming from someone who doesn’t “do” girly. But, for some reason, I LOVE the Heart Thinlit and it is definitely one of the items I’ll will get from the Occasions Catalog.
