It’s time for the weekly Watercooler Wednesday Challenge! This time, it’s a fabulous color challenge from Kath. She pulled three colors from the 2014-2016 In Colors and one core color for this gorgeous fall palette.
I knew it would be easy to create a card with these colors. I have lots of inspiration, because all I have to do is look outside. These are the colors of fall. But I wanted a little more challenge, so I decided to do a 3-D. Here’s my project.
I had a candle holder left over from another project, so I decided to create a fall centerpiece for our dining room table. I used the Reason for the Season stamp set with Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow cardstock and ink to create the flowers. Then I punched with the Festive Flower Builder Punch (adding the Crushed Curry flower centers). I didn’t use the largest stamp and petal/leaf punch, because I didn’t want the flowers to totally overwhelm the candle. I added a little dab of Dazzling Details mixed with Crushed Curry ink refill to the centers of the flowers.
Some people mix their Dazzling Details and ink refill as they need it. I like to create bottles of colored Dazzling D’s, because it’s always ready. Simply remove the tip from the Dazzling Details container and add 10-12 drops of refill (more or less, depending on the intensity you want). I used an old chop stick to mix it up. Put the tip back on, and it’s ready to go.
I used a hot glue gun to adhere the flowers to the candle holder. If your flowers are low enough, you can use a “real” candle. If they’re sticking up over the edge of the container, I’d use an LED tealight, unless you want to invite firefighters to your Thanksgiving dinner. (Hey – it worked on Friends, right?)
This set is not retiring in January – and neither is the punch! You can use it with any colors to create gorgeous flowers all year long. Fun, right?
So now it’s your turn. Create a project using Kath’s fall palette and link it to the Watercooler Challenge blog. You can see lots of inspiration here. I can’t wait to see what your design!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy! Please drop by again after 10 for a new Craft Project Central project. It’s a fun Advent project created by the amazing Amanda Corbet.
Have a wonderful day!
