One of the things I miss about being born in the 20th century is riding in a horse-drawn sleigh. Mom and Dad have an old set of sleigh bells in their house. I think the sound of them in the night is just peaceful and happy. Everything is quiet except for the bells and the crunch of the horse’s hooves on the snow. Of course, I don’t know this, because I’ve never had a sleigh ride over snow covered country, but I have a good imagination.
I used the Jingle all the Way bundle for this card. The horse and trees are two of the Sleigh Ride edgelits, and the sentiment is from the stamp set. I used watercolor paper for the night sky, and painted some Night of Navy, Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum over it. When it dried, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling embossing folder.
I sponged a tiny bit of Whisper White craft ink over the raised dots, so the snowflakes stood out a bit more. I also sponged a little Soft Sky over the snow banks for a little extra depth.
So it’s not so silent around here today. I’m trying to get Miss Amelia to take her afternoon nap. She insists she doesn’t need it, but I insist she does. Or, at least, I need her to need it! Her new favorite thing is to “help” with the laundry. She sits in the laundry basket and pulls clothes in. After I pull them back out, fold them, and return them to the basket, she drops them back out. Maybe I don’t fold well enough to suit her.
She’s gotten so fun. She’s always smiling, singing, and talking. And exploring, of course. Or helping with the laundry.
