Lost Island World of Dreams

World of Dreams

This is an idea I got from my wonderful downline Sandy on Wednesday. She made a gorgeous one layer card with washi tape and the Awesomely Artistic set, and I wanted to copy it exactly. I restrained myself, however, and changed it a bit. I did keep her basic sketch, though.

I switched the orientation (hers was a landscape) and used the World of Dreams stamp set. I also used the Pretty Petals designer series paper stack instead of Washi Tape. And – hey! – I made a monochromatic card! Next to “clean and simple,” monochromatic is the hardest for me. I didn’t even realize this was monochromatic until I was finished. It just kind of happened.

I stamped the birds in Lost Lagoon classic ink. It was supposed to be Island Indigo – and for class, that’s what I’ll suggest. I kind of like the Lost Lagoon, though. The splatters (from Awesomely Artistic) are stamped in Lost Lagoon and Pool Party, and the sentiment is Island Indigo. I added 1/2″ strips of the Pretty Petals dsp to the Very Vanilla card stock before adhering the layer to a Lost Lagoon card.

I’m very happy with the way this turned out! It would be a perfect graduation card, or new job card – or even a wedding card, don’t you think?

Today was one of my Miss Amelia days, and while she was napping this morning, I was supposed to prep for class tomorrow. For some reason, I was on the computer looking for something on YouTube, and I found several Jeanne Robertson videos I hadn’t seen before. She was the keynote speaker at my very first Stampin’ Up! convention waaaaay back in 2003. You know someone is a wonderful speaker when you remember them (and what they shared) 12 years ago. She is so much fun. The topic of most of her speeches is to find the humor in every day life, which is what Mike & I also try to do. Life is much easier when you find something to laugh at than it is when you find something to be grumpy about. If you get a chance, check out some of her hilarious videos.

I did manage to get this photo of Amelia helping me blog. I was looking up item numbers in the catalog, and she was transfixed by the punches. She’s going to be fun to craft with in a few years, I can tell. We’re going to have a blast once she stops eating the card stock.

This is a tad blurry. With Amelia, you have to be really quick if you want a photo. She doesn’t stand still for very long. She has a lot to do and a lot to learn about. I keep telling her she has lots of time, but she just doesn’t have the patience to wait. She wants to know everything now.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy! Have a wonderful day!

Amelia is so cute! She looks like a ginger in that picture. You know, if Stampin’ Up! would stop naming their colors after food, it might help Amelia stop eating it!

Good point, Susan. She doesn’t chew on Wisteria Wonder or Rose Red (although she does like a nice rose petal now and then). Mostly she sticks with Pear Pizzazz and Watermelon Wonder. Interesting.

Ooooooo Watermelon Wonder, my favorite flavor. Watch it when Amerlia decides ink is better than paper —- ugh!!! You did a great job changing around the washi and stamp I did. I like your nice soft colors. Very pretty.

Hmmmmm – Watermelon Wonder will at least look like lipstick. Pear Pizzazz – not so much! Thanks, Sandy – for the comment & inspiration!!
