Thursday was my “craft day” at the office. Each month, crafters can bring something to work on and spend the day together. It’s a lot of fun – and we share ideas as we work. I wanted to play around a little with different ideas I’ve been thinking about.
For this card, I used the Striped Scallop thinlits to create a kind of lattice weave. I cut two from Tip Top Taupe card stock, then put them together. It took a lot of manipulating and moving to get them right. It’s actually very simple, but getting it straight in my head was a challenge!
For the rest of the card, I simply stamped some flowers from Butterfly Basics and colored them. I love the Blush Blossom/Tip Top Taupe combination, don’t you? Before I added the other layers, I mixed some Dazzling Details with a little water and used an aqua painter to splash some across the stamped layer. Then I sprinkled Gold glitter over it and let it dry
After stamping the butterfly from Watercolor Wings (using Blush Blossom, Calypso Coral and Tip Top Taupe on Whisper White), I die cut it with the Butterflies thinlits, and cut a detailed butterfly using the Bold Butterfly framelits and Calypso Coral card stock.
Since I was making this at the office and hadn’t brought any oval or circle diecuts or punches, I used a tag from the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits for the sentiment, then covered the tag part with a gold metal button. Finally, I added banners in gold foil and Old Olive card stock and some Blush Blossom cotton ribbon.
Remember – the Butterfly Basics set is available in wood mount, clear mount rubber, and photopolymer. The Watercolor Wings set is a photopolymer set, which makes it very easy to line up. And all of the sets can be bundled with the coordinating die-cuts – and you’ll save money!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
