Remember the color challenge from this post? I love the gradient from Rose Red through Melon Mambo into Pink Pirouette, so I decided to do another card for the challenge. To refresh your memory, here are the colors.
And here’s my second card.
First, apparently there’s something on my camera lens, because that black dot beside the Melon Mambo flower is not on the card. Ugh. But it’s on several other photos, so I’m guessing it’s my camera. I suppose I’d better get a lens cleaner before I take another picture!
To create the background, I inked a clear block with Rose Red, Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Markers, spritzed with water and then stamped on Whisper White card stock. The Garden in Bloom set from the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog seemed to fit perfectly on this. I stamped the large flower three times in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, then colored with Melon Mambo and Wisteria Wonder Stampin Write Markers. You’re really supposed to use StazOn if you’re coloring with water based products, but if you’re careful, you can use the Memento ink. I went back over the shadows to add a little more color for some depth, then filled in with Dazzling Details. (I added Crushed Curry ink refill to the Dazzling Details for the flower centers.)
After I stamped the butterfly image and colored it with Pool Party ink, I decided I wanted a little more dimension, so I stamped it again on a Whisper White card stock scrap, colored it and cut it out. I added a bit more Dazzling Details and some leaves (colored with Wild Wasabi) and a sentiment. Easy!
Sadly, I left this on the table to dry, and the cat decided to walk through the Dazzling Details. *sigh* I think it makes the leaf look like it has a little dew on it, though, so I’ll let it slide this time.
The bottom layers of the card are Melon Mambo and Pool Party.
You have through Friday to enter the challenge! Just create a project using the colors above. If you don’t have the exact colors, it’s ok to pick something close! Then post your card to a public forum (like splitcoast stampers or even pinterest) or your blog, and use the linkz button to add your card. Be sure to link back to the challenge on your blog/forum post.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
