Winter Moon

Stampin' Up!, Lovely as a Tree

I was thinking that if I created a winter card, I’d feel cooler. It didn’t work, but I love this “winter moon” card. I saw a painting at a restaurant that had a similar image, and decided it would be fun to recreate.

I die-cut a Very Vanilla circle using the Circles Framelits and Big Shot. Then, I stamped the trees, from Lovely as a Tree, in VersaMark and embossed them with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I decided to add a little shadow to the bottom of the moon before layering it to a Basic Black panel.

I stamped the sentiment from And Many More on Very Vanilla and punched with the Word Window Punch. The Washi Label and the card are both Basic Gray.

So there you are – a Black, Vanilla and Gray card. No red. No blue. No splashes of color anywhere.

We had a quick Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator meeting tonight. Things are quiet in Stampin’ Up! Land right now. Ok, not that quiet. This week we have the last Inspire. Create. Share. (aka “Convention”) before we begin the On Stage events in November. I’m sad that I had to miss it, but we’re going out of town in August and October and maybe September. So I thought it would be good to stay on the East Coast this round. But other than that, things are a little quiet. That should change as soon as we see the new Holiday Catalog this weekend!

Hope you’re staying cool! Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy!

I’m going to CASE this card pronto! So different. How did you do the “shadowing”? Is it sponging?

Awww – thanks, Carol! Yes, it’s just a little sponged Tuxedo Black Memento. I sponged before I adhered the circle. And I cut the circle before I stamped. You probably wouldn’t have to, but I was afraid I’d have the trees too low.

  2. I love this – a really different look. I am wondering if I can do something Christmassy along a similar line. How did you achieve the shadowing?

  3. Awesome card – and instructions. My favorites: simple and elegant!
