Here are some more new products for you to see. If you have the Butterfly Basics and Butterflies thinlits, you really need to get the Bold Butterfly framelits and Watercolor Wings set. They all work really well together. The Bold Butterfly framelits cut the negative of the medium butterfly in the Butterflies thinlits, and the detail of the smallest butterfly in the thinlits (the one that goes with the Butterfly Basics stamp set). Did you follow all that? And the Watercolor Wings stamps add splashes of color to your die-cut butterflies. Or, you can just stamp them without die-cutting.
I stamped the Watercolor Wings butterfly outline in So Saffron on Whisper White card stock, then stamped the next layer (with ink just on the edges) in Mint Macaron. I stamped the final layer (the big butterfly with the splotch in the center and little details along the edges of the wings) in Lost Lagoon. I knew I’d be adding a die-cut over top of it, so I didn’t stamp the body, and I forgot the antennae until I had already embossed. Oops.
Since the stamps are photopolymer, you can line up the three layers of ink perfectly. I die cut the butterfly with the Bold Butterflies framelit, then die-cut the detail from Mossy Meadow card stock with the Butterflies thinlits.
For the rest of the card, I stamped the splatter image from Awesomely Artistic in Mint Macaron on Mint Macaron card stock, then stamped the floral image in Mossy Meadow in the center. I embossed it with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, then added the sentiment in Mossy Meadow on So Saffron. That Washi Label punch is really growing on me! I’m thinking I like it better than the retired Modern Label punch. GASP! I know. I can adjust to change!
I’m happy at how well the old In Colors and the new In Colors work together. Mint Macaron is one of those, “Is it blue or green?” colors. On the Mossy Meadow card, it looks green, but on a Lost Lagoon card, it’s more blue. Think of it like this – if Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana got married and had a child, it would be Mint Macaron. It’s as if no one wanted the old In Colors to retire, so they mixed them together to form the new ones. And although Mint Macaron was the one color that I said, “Meh,” about, it’s fast becoming my favorite.
Hope you’re enjoying the new catalog as much as I am. There are so many different artistic styles in there, you’re sure to find something you love!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
