After I made this card last night, I realized almost everything on it is retiring. The Basic Black Classic ink. The chalkboard paper from the Occasions Catalog. The Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock (already gone). The Rose Coral chalk ink. The Labels Collection framelits. The Friends Who Know stamp set. Going, going, going….and some things are probably already gone. The only product not retiring is the Chalk Lines image.
This was very simple. I stamped and die cut the “Friends Who Know” image, then added a couple chalk lines, because I wanted to use the chalkboard paper and chalk ink before it was gone. I also wanted to add some embellishments, but nothing seemed to fit without being too much.
I really liked this stamp when I first saw it last year, but held off buying it. And, as always happens, the week after it arrived when I finally ordered it, it went on the retiring list. I should have known! But – it was free, so I don’t mind too much. I guess the smart thing would have been to keep it new and sell it at a top price. Or give it as a door prize. But something about “uninked” stamps sitting on my shelf just seems sad.
Remember – all retiring stamps will be available through May 26 and accessories (embellishments, paper, ink, etc.) are available only while supplies last. So be sure to order now so you don’t miss out on the products you want. Many of the retiring products are discounted, so this is a great time to snatch them up! Just a quick heads-up for you – Almost everything in the new catalog will be a bit more expensive. Prices will be rounded up to an even dollar amount, so everything that was $4.95 will now be $5. A few items – like the Big Shot – are significantly higher, due to price increases from the supplier (I think it’s going to be $10 more), and some are less expensive (embossing folders. WOOT!). So it’s something to think about if you want to stock up.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
