Just a note — I’m sharing photos from our annual Apple Blossom luncheon first. Then I have a sneak peek photo of the new Stampin’ Up! In Colors and products. So stop reading at the end of the pink and green photos if you want to be surprised when you see the new catalog! (Seriously? You really want to wait until June to see the new In Colors? Such self-control. I’m impressed.)
This weekend is the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester. It’s a huge deal around here. It began as a celebration of apple blossom time and the promise of a successful apple harvest in the fall (there are a lot of orchardists here in the valley). As time has passed, however, it’s mostly just an excuse to have a weekend party and rake in some tourist dollars.
There are one or two events, however, that actually celebrate the apple industry. One is our Ladies’ Luncheon, sponsored by the Virginia State Horticultural Society Women’s Auxiliary. (Whew. I know. I get tongue tied every time I have to say this title.) This year marks our 75th anniversary, and ours is the first auxiliary of its kind in the United States. Yesterday was our luncheon, and Rachel & Steph co-chaired the Decorations committee. Rachel did a lot of the initial planning, but then she had to step down, so Stephanie did most of the “final touches.” And what a wonderful job she did. Here are some of the photos of the decorations.
See the big apple blossoms? There are six of those. The head tables are in kind of an “L” on the dais, and usually there are three apple blossoms behind each table. Last year, though, Steph & Rachel decided to hang two behind each table with a balloon banner between them. That left two apple blossoms for the entry – which looked nice, I think.
The little flags in the cones have “75” Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper die cuts on them. Get it? 75th anniversary? I was ecstatic to learn that the 75th anniversary jewel was diamond! This was definitely a glitter year. There is glitter all over my basement (Mike refuses to go down there until fall) and every car we own. And there’s a glitter trail between our house, the office and the restaurant that hosted the event. I’m pretty sure everyone on the decorations committee has glitter in their hair and all over their faces as well.
We reused the tissue paper flowers from last year, and the table favors committee used beautiful hot pink zig zag designed bags for the gifts at each place setting. The residents at Spring Arbor, one of our local assisted living/adult community facilities, gave the little flower pots, and they added just another little pop of color to the tables.
And, finally, here’s the “history table” we created for the 75th anniversary.
I love the Chalkboard Banner from Stampin’ Up! It’s (sadly) retiring, as well as the current Build a Banner kit. But, take heart – the new catalog has some….Well, I can’t tell you yet. I can share a few sneak peeks, though. So – stop reading now if you don’t want to see this.
Seriously. Stop reading. Because by the time you scroll again, it will be too late and you can’t erase this image from your brain.
Look at those colors! This is a photo of the presentation off the “jumbotron” at the South Pacific convention (no, I’m not there. I’m living vicariously off others), so the colors aren’t “true.” But from the other photos I’ve seen, they’re really pretty. They’re close to some of our previous colors, but I think they’ll be fun to pair with core colors and current 2014-16 colors.
I can’t really tell you anything that’s in the catalog, but I can point out things I really like about these cards – like the ribbon. And that butterfly. And the little embellishment in the center. Cute, right?
Seeing the catalog early is one of the benefits of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator! We can also preorder selected products beginning May 5. So this is a good time to join my team of demonstrators!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
