It’s time for another blog hop – and this time, it’s not what it appears to be. That’s right – it’s an “April Fool!” hop. Each of us will have one project that looks like one thing but it’s really something else.
You may have arrived from the fabulous Christine’s blog. Christine is a marvelous artist, and I love her work. If you’re starting with me, though, that’s fine, too. Just keep hopping until you get back! You can use the links in the post, or the buttons at the end of the blog.
Here’s my “April Fool” project.
It looks like an etch-a-sketch, right? I have seen some of these on various blogs, and I thought they were so cute. But this isn’t really an etch-a-sketch card. It’s magic! Because when you pull the tab – 
– the image is magically colored. Cool, right? It’s all done with smoke and mirrors. Or, really, vellum, card stock, and window sheets. (Disclaimer: The images aren’t off set and blurry in person. But getting the window sheet to stay put for the photo proved impossible.) I used Shimmery White card stock, classic ink and an aqua painter to color the From the Herd image.
For this hop, I either have two or four projects – depending on how you count them. My second project is really three. Spring is in full bloom here in the Shenandoah Valley. You can tell by the sneezing and sniffing you hear from almost everyone! But it’s also gorgeous with all the flowering and blossoming fruit trees.
I wanted to capture some of the gorgeousness on paper, using Sheltering Tree (don’t you love the 2015 Occasions Catalog?), so here’s my Sheltering Tree-0.
I used a mix of different pinks, greens and whites. I flipped the leaf stamp over, stamping the outline first, then I stamped the leaves in a different color. I think I like the third one best.

Hey Buffy – cute cute card (Etch-a-Sketch). Yours is better than mine. I made a similar EAS card for my brother, and he actually thought it was a tiny Etch-a-Sketch – lol!!! I had punched several circles for the ‘knobs’ and stacked them up and glued them, so it was really thick…so he thought the knobs were real (of course, it might have helped if he had put on his glasses – lol).
I wish I had made it into a shaker card, so he would have thought he could erase it – lol. But your magic card is perfect for this stamp set. I have forgotten how to do this, so must find instructions and make it. TFS!!!

Buffy what a fun start to your blog hop entry. Your delightful etch a sketch brought back fun memories of childhood. From the Herd was simply a perfect stamp choice for this project. Luv, luv it!. I like your second (third and fourth) projects too. The Occasions catalogue was so jammed packed with awesome stamps this time around it was hard to choose just one, and Sheltering Tree was one of those “gotta have ones”. I love the three separate cards. Awesome!

Hi Buffy, thanks for being part of the Blog Hop. What a wonderful trio of cards starring the Sheltering Tree stamp set! I miss the blossoming of trees that we used to get in southern British Columbia as well as in Victoria. Alberta seems to barren in comparison. Your cards make me very nostalgic. Nostalgia is also the name of the game with that Etch-a-Sketch. What a great idea! I love the magic of the “magic card” and will have to surprise my grandsons with something like this. I had forgotten all about this technique and, really, it’s such a lot of fun. Of course the From the Herd stamp set is perfect for the card. TFS
