Sheltering Tree Sketch Challenge

Sheltering Tree, Stampin' Up!

This is my entry in the Creating Pretty Cards sketch challenge #44.  You can see the sketch here.

I used the Sheltering Tree stamp set from the Occasions catalog.  I love that set; it reminds me of a retired set, “Branch Out,” except it’s a little more modern.  It’s a photopolymer set, so you can see exactly where to line up the extra images (like the swing and bike – which I didn’t use).  I added a little fullness to the leaves by stamping the leaf stamp with the wrong side of the stamp first, then stamping the leaves.  That was a trick we learned at Leadership.  I had done this before by accident, but it was fun to see how to do that on purpose for a different look.

For the sketch design, I decided on the All Abloom designer series paper stack from the annual catalog.  I am committed to using my designer series paper this year!   It’s always so pretty, I hate to cut it – and then the year ends and I have all this gorgeous paper I didn’t use.

I added the “thanks” from the Hello You Thinlits Dies for my sentiment.   These are a fun way to add a statement.  And remember – using waxed paper with them really helps!  I use a 2-way glue peno add them to a project.  It has such a fine tip, it’s easy to attach the die-cut with no mess.

Why don’t you play along with the sketch challenge?  Just create a card using the sketch here, then upload it to the site.  You could win a free month subscription to Craft Project Central!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy.  Have a wonderful day!
