Saturday was my Rachel’s birthday. One of our birthday traditions is for the birthday boy (or girl, now!!) to choose the “main course” for his or her dinner and the dessert. (Rachel & Jon don’t like cake that much. For their wedding they had a pie tier instead of cake, and it was beautiful!!)
Rachel chose seafood (yum!) and a chocolate oreo pie. As the kids get older, the schedules are a little crazier, so it was just a “girls’ day” this year – but, oh, what fun we had! Rachel had been to a yard sale and picked up a ton of clothes for $15, so we had a fashion show after lunch. And then we dangled our feet in the pool and just chatted until the girls had to get home. I had a blast, and I hope Rachel & Steph did, too.
The idea for her card was inspired by my friend Kath Ricks. Kath is an amazing artist, and I am always wowed by her work. She posted a card using the Perfect Peacock single stamp, embossed in white powder on Basic Black card stock. And then she colored over the embossing with Blendabilities. Great idea, right? And this is a perfect stamp to try it with! I used Blackberry Bliss card stock instead of black.
I colored a strip of Back to Black designer series paper for an extra layer, and cut out a couple feathers for under the sentiment (from Endless Birthday Wishes).
Each time we celebrate a birthday around here, I realize how much God has blessed me with such incredible parents (and in-laws), children (and soon-to-be grandchild!!) and my amazing husband. Then, of course, there are my brothers and their families, my aunts, uncles, cousins, friends…the list is too long not to forget someone, so I’ll just leave it at “all the wonderful people in my life.”
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
Sooooo beautiful Buffy. I love the added feathers. I keep forgetting about coloring white embossing.

Thanks, Jackie. My other daughter-in-law was at the house when I made it, and she had the feather idea.
