Here’s the “back story.” One of the features of the Apple Blossom luncheon I’m involved with is door prizes. Area merchants and business owners give over 100 door prizes, and I get to be the lucky one to call out the numbers. “Numb” is the operative word here. It’s lovely to win a prize, but it’s mind-numbingly dull to sit there listening to every number except yours being called. I try to keep it moving and interesting, but it’s not easy.
I don’t draw the numbers from the box; I just call them out. That way, no one can blame me if they don’t get a prize. This year, one of my young cousins was the ticket puller. AnnaKate is going to be seven in a couple weeks. She’s actually seven going on twenty. She’s very mature and grown up, and she did a wonderful job of drawing tickets from the box. To thank her, I gave her a “Hip Hip Hooray” card kit.
And this is what I got in the mail Thursday.
I was so impressed by this. First – look how straight she stamped the word “thanks.” I can’t stamp that straight. And she did this all on her own. I found out that her mom and grandma hadn’t even seen it. She just sealed it in the envelope (also decorated, I might add!) and asked to have it mailed. Amazing, right? She also wrote the sweetest note, and her handwriting is better than mine, too.
So, thanks, AnnaKate! You’re the best! If I call numbers again next year, I want you by my side.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
