Using leftovers is really hard for me.  I forget about them.  But whether it’s food or stamping supplies, I just can’t throw away anything that can be reused – even if it’s just a little bit, so, sadly, leftover food usually stays in the fridge until it looks like a science project, and leftovers from stamping projects stay on my stamp table for…ever. Or until Steph wants to craft and cleans it off for me.

I had some Rich Razzleberry flowers leftover from last night.  I was playing with my Blendabilities, and only used some of the Petite Petals and Flower Shop flowers I colored, so these were leftovers.  I wanted to see how the Blendabilities worked with ribbon (very well!!), so I used the leftovers for this card.

Look how beautifully  that organza ribbon turned out!  I started with the darkest color in the Blendabilities pack, then moved to the medium and lightest to create an ombre effect.  It’s hard to tell since the ribbon is tied, but when it’s all stretched out, you can definitely see the difference in tone.  The Blendabilities were so easy to use on the ribbon and blended wonderfully.  If I use watercolor markers, any ink on my grid paper seeps into whatever I’m coloring.  But not with the alcohol markers.  I used them on the ribbon on top of my messy paper – and by messy, I mean this:

None of this mess bled into the ribbon.  Sweet!  And it dried very quickly.

I tried the Blendabilities on a few other types of ribbon.  I used Coastal Cabana on the Victoria crochet trim and the Skin Tone markers on the 7/8″ cotton ribbon.  The cotton was the most difficult, but I think that was because the skin tone markers aren’t as “graduated” as the others.  There’s an obvious separation between a couple colors.  And, of course, I was in a hurry and getting tired of coloring in neutrals, so I didn’t blend as well as I could have or use the color lifter.

I left a little of the crochet trim uncolored so you could see the original color.  I love how well the markers blended on this.

The Flower Garden embossing folder is retiring, as is the Victoria crochet trim, so be sure to order now if you want it.  All retiring items (including stamps) are “while supplies last,” so if you wait until June 3, they may be gone – and then you’ll have to pay exorbitant ebay prices for them.  (Edited to add:  I just tried to find the crochet trim in the store, and it looks like it’s sold out already.  But take heart; there is a replacement in the new catalog!)
