Today was one of those days. You know what I’m talking about – a day where you start at 7 a.m. and don’t stop until …well, what time is it now? 10:30 p.m.? Yep. Let’s talk about all the hats I wore – I started out as a realtor’s assistant. Then I moved on to a huge local festival luncheon committee co-chair. I was a business owner, a musician, an artist, a mom, a daughter and a tax preparer. I was afraid I wouldn’t have anything to blog today (and I’m just squeaking in under the midnight wire here!) – and then I remembered the Craft Project Central “Create Pretty Cards” sketch challenge.
Challenges are a great way to get your creativity going, and I really needed that tonight. I pulled out Stampin’ Up! stamp sets that I love but haven’t used for awhile – Perfect Blend and Gorgeous Grunge – and this card came together quickly and easily.
I stamped the coffee cup in Jet Black stazon on Whisper White card stock, then stamped the coffee sleeve again on Smoky Slate card stock, paper piecing the sleeve to the cup. The Gorgeous Grunge part was easy – just stamp splatters for a little depth. I used the dots from Happy Watercolor on the Baked Brown Sugar layer.
I decided to use the Retro Fresh designer series paper from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog for the accent strip, since it worked perfectly with the other colors. The Tangerine Tango and Bermuda Bay card stock and ribbon add a pop of color. And, of course, none of my coffee cups are complete without a little Strawberry Slush lipstick smear!
Here’s the original sketch for the card. Take the challenge! Create a card using the sketch as a starting point. And, who knows? You could win a subscription for a month of tutorials at Craft Project Central!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy! Have a wonderful day!
I love the grungy look of this card, great effort Buffy. Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
