Grateful Flowers

Petite Petals, Flower Shop, Stampin' Up!, Chalk TalkI love using black and white or vanilla together – and I didn’t even add any pops of red this time!  My BFF Susan Horr (yeah, I know.  I mention her in every other post, I think) posts her blog entries early each day.  Actually, Susan is incredibly organized and schedules her posts a week or more in advance.  I’ve tried doing that, but then I want to post everything I’ve made the same day.  It’s the same reason I want everyone to open their birthday or Christmas gifts the minute I buy them.  I can’t wait.  It’s a sickness.

Anyway – when I read Susan’s blog, it reminds me of stamps and tools I haven’t used for awhile.  So when she posted a card using Flower Shop and Petite Petals, I had a “light bulb” moment.

I used Modern Medley designer series paper, because I thought this mosaic design looked a little like a trellis.  Then I stamped flowers in Jet Black StazOn on Very Vanilla card stock and in (retired) Very Vanilla craft ink on Basic Black card stock.  I emobossed those with clear powder, just to be sure they wouldn’t smudge.  If you don’t have any vanilla craft ink, you could use Whisper White.  Yes, I can be a hoarder when it comes to craft supplies.  Most of my retired products I sell, give away or pitch (usually 5 years or more after they’ve retired).  But some things – like ink and embossing powder – I keep using.

I punched the flowers with coordinating punches (Petite Petals and Pansy).  And, of course, you know that if you buy the stamps and punches in a bundle, you save 15%.

For the sentiment, I used one of the Labels Collection framelits to cut the center from the designer series paper, backed it with Basic Black card stock, then stamped the sentiment from Chalk Talk in the center and embossed it.  I just got some 1/8″ Basic  Black taffeta ribbon, so this was a good chance to use it, too.

This will probably go to Susan.  She’s an amazing friend – and not just because I copy her ideas!  She’s funny, smart, beautiful…we’re, like, twins.   😉
