I’m so excited about this blog hop! Stampin’ Up! has a forum for demonstrators, and one of the forum threads is a place to drop in and chat. We’ve nicknamed it “The Watercooler.” Actually, we call it the “Wacky Women’s Watercooler.” I’m not sure if “wacky” refers to the women, the thread, or both. Wacky or not, the women (and our favorite man) who participate in the thread are all good friends, even though a lot of us have never met. So a group of us are “hopping” this weekend and presenting projects that highlight Stampin’ Up!’s amazing products.
You may have arrived here from Gail’s blog. Wasn’t it amazing? I love her style! And you probably deduced that she lives in Canada – partly because of her use of “colour” and partly because it says so in the top right corner of her blog. Our hop is a North American mix of talented Canadian and US demos.
If you’re just starting the hop, that’s ok. The cool thing about blog hops is you can start anywhere and hop along until you get back to where you started. Or you can hop backwards. Or you can hop around the circle 2-3 times or more. I have to confess, I have gone around some hops more than 3 times, and I see something new each time.
I decided to focus on Valentine’s Day for my projects, and used the Watercolor Wonder suite from the Occasions catalog for my color scheme. Here are all three of my projects, but I’ll show you each in a little more detail.
I wanted a card for Mike, something I could give to a younger friend, and a gift box Mike could fill with something wonderful for me. (Yes, I’m that amazing. I love to make it easy for him to give me gifts. HA!)
I’m sure you’ve noticed that the card in the photo with all three projects is not the same as this card. I had used the “Love” thinlit from the Holiday catalog on the original card. It was still available when I started on this – even though it was after the sale date for the catalog. But sometime between then and now, it became “unavailable,” so I switched it for the “i (heart) u” thinlit from the Label Card Thinlits Dies pack, with an added small heart punched from Silver Glimmer Paper.
I stamped the background in Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate using the Delicate Doilies stamp set. I spritzed the Tea Lace paper doily with some ink refill and alcohol and embossed the die cut heart with the Fancy Fan embossing folder. A panel of Watercolor Wonder designer series paper, a scalloped layer of Smoky Slate and some of the cute twine from Sale-a-bration complete the card.
I found a purse-sized composition book in a drug store and decided it would be gorgeous covered with the polka dot Watercolor Wonder paper pattern. I used the Watercolor Wonder designer washi tape along the edges, and used the Hearts a Flutter framelits for the Crisp Cantaloups and Pink Pirouette hearts. I stamped the heart messages in Calypso Coral with some of the Fabulous Phrases stamps.
And now
(my favorite) – the box.
I’m especially proud of this one, because I had to figure out the dimensions on my own. I used, of course, Watercolor Wonder designer series paper for the box. I die cut a Spiral Flower and Little Leaves from gold foil paper. I think they turned out beautifully. It reminds me of the gold foil that delicious chocolate is wrapped in – which would be a good thing to fill the box with. The belly band is a strip of 1″ x 12″ gold foil. It’s a tad short to glue, so I joined the two ends on the back with more Watercolor Wonder washi tape.

I wish the “love” thinlit hadn’t retired but the thinlit you’ve used from the Label Thinlit card set is definitely perfect for the card. I especially like that added but of flash in the Glimmer Paper heart you’ve put in the centre of the thinlit heart.
I love what you’ve created from the little composition book. Your young friend will surely love owning and using such a pretty journal. The metallic lustre of the Washi Tape is the perfect addition to the borders.
And so we come to the box. Oh my! What can I say, Buffy? I want to make one. I love every bit of it and think you’re ever so clever to have made it for your sweetheart to fill and give to you. The perfect way to ensure you get to keep that wonderful box. Thank you so much for the instructions. They will be used.

Fabulous set of projects Miss Buffy. I’m still mourning the loss of the Expressions Thinlits ( sadly they were gone before I could get my hands on them) but I love the save you engineered with the flip card thinlit. I need to put those little guys out where I can see them so I remember the alternate shapes I have. The little notebook is a dream and so is the lovely box. That Watercolor Wonder paper really meets the need when soft, sweet and elegant are called for. Thanks for hopping. It’s a joy to have you in the crew this time.
