Happy Watercolored Poppies

Happy Watercolor, Occasions catalog, Stampin' Up!One of my favorite things about the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog is the Watercolor Wonder suite.  Oh, my!  So many fun images that you can watercolor. (And there’s a brand new   watercolor product coming soon!  Can you say, “alcohol markers in Stampin’ Up! colors?”)

I used the poppy image from Happy Watercolor for this card, and it just seemed a little flat.  So I stamped another one, cut out some leaves and popped them up on stampin’ dimensionals.  Better.

To watercolor this image, I used our Many Marvelous Markers.  Pretend that’s Real Red on the poppy.  (It’s actually retired Poppy Parade, because that’s my all-time favorite bright red.  I’m hoping it comes back, so I’m hoarding all my ink and card stock.)  The mat under the flower, though, is Real Red, and I used Soft Sky designer series paper and card stock for the bottom layers.  I also stamped and embossed the flower image on watercolor paper.  Markers blend so much better with the aqua painters when stamped on watercolor paper.  And I love that Whisper White organza ribbon.  It’s so elegant and pretty.

If you haven’t seen the Occasions catalog, you can view it here.  If you’d like a hard copy, please leave me a message and I’ll send one out.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy.  Have a wonderful day!
