Thanksgiving at the Beach

capt_GeorgeMike & I are celebrating our anniversary and Thanksgiving at Virginia Beach.  We had a great time today.  After breakfast – which was more like lunch – we shopped a little, but we had forgotten it was “Black Friday.”  (I know; how can you forget something like that?  I keep thinking it’s Saturday.)  We haven’t had time to go to the ocean yet, but it’s on my list for tomorrow.  I need to take a picture to send to my nephew and sister-in-law.  They love it down here, so I promised to send pictures.  Lee wants to be reminded of what it’s like to be warm.  I won’t say it’s really warm here, but at least it’s sunny and the wind is minimal.

We got a late start yesterday, so we just grabbed a hot dog and a slice of pumpkin pie from Sheetz on the way down the road.  That was our Thanksgiving dinner.  Don’t feel bad for us, though.  It was a great hotdog (with sauerkraut!) – and we made up for it today.  We had dinner at Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant.  Yum!  And they had leftover turkey and stuffing on the buffet.  I ate a little of that, just to get my “fix,” but mostly, I loaded up on crab legs and shrimp.  We both agreed we were glad we hadn’t gorged on Thursday too.  I think I might have exploded!

We’re staying in a hotel next to the convention center, and when we pulled in last night, there were lots of trailers sitting around.  I joked to Mike that it would be great if there was a craft show at the convention center this weekend.  And guess what?  It’s the Virginia Beach Christmas Market.  Christmas Craft Show

The Virginia Beach Christmas Market features over 250 fine artisans and crafters from more than 25 states. This show was once again (since 1996) voted into the “100 Best Classic and Contemporary Craft Shows in the United States” by Sunshine Artist Magazine, America’s premier show and festival guide. Featured artisans offer fine arts, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, wood, toys, photography, fiber arts, thousands of Christmas collectibles and more.  That’s another thing on my list for tomorrow – but we’ll see.  It looks like a blast, but I’m not sure it’s something Mike would be interested in.  (He’s already said, “I’ll work out while you go.”)  And he already hit a couple craft stores with me today.  So I don’t want to push it.

Hope your weekend is fabulous too!  Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy.
