Mom’s Secret Garden

Secret Garden, Sizzix, Big Shot, Framelits, embossing, Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog My friend Liz (again!) was the inspiration behind this card.  She sent me a picture of one from another artist – and it was gorgeous!  Unfortunately, there was no watermark or other identifying information, so if it was yours – or you know whose it was – let me know so I can credit!

I stamped the Secret Garden flowers (from the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog) in Versamark and embossed them with white powder.  Then I colored them with Whisper White craft ink and a blender pen.  When the ink dried, I colored the flowers with Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse ink.  Pretty!  The leaves are solid stamps, so I embossed them with white powder, then colored with Wild Wasabi ink.  I know the embossing powder resists the ink, so I reheated the leaves to melt the ink into the powder.  It worked, but they weren’t as dark as I wanted, so I ended up coloring them with watercolor pencils.  And halfway through, it hit me.  Why didn’t I just stamp them in white ink, then color?  Duh.  That would look much, much better!  Next time.

I wanted to add a little bouquet around the Delightful Dozen sentiment, so I stamped solid flowers in Primrose Petals and Summer Starfruit, then used Secret Garden framelits to die cut them.  Easy!  (If you buy the Secret Garden stamps and framelits in a bundle, you can save 15%.  It comes in clear and wood mount.)

I die cut the leaves from Gumball Green card stock with the Little Leaves sizzlet, then added a little Summer Starfruit stitched satin ribbon and some Dazzling Details.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy, and have a wonderful day!
