Cards I Don’t Like To Create

Petite Pairs, Everything Eleanor, Sketch Challenge, Susie Nelson, Stampin' UpSometimes you have to make a card that’s really hard to create.  We found out at choir rehearsal last night that one of our members had a death in the family – her mom.  I can’t imagine not having my mom around; she’s such a huge part of my life.  I offered to send a card from our choir to the family.

Sympathy cards are difficult, because I don’t want them to be too dark and dreary – but not too happy either.  This was actually a sketch challenge on the Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator forum this week – from Susie Nelson.  I thought it would work well for a sympathy card using Everything Eleanor, Petite Pairs and the Comfort Cafe’ paper.

When I say I don’t like to make them, I guess I really mean it’s harder than birthday or other all occasion cards. I do enjoy making them, because I hope they’ll bring a little comfort and sunshine to the family.

On a happy note, I got an e-mail from Sandra Manwill, Hispanic Market Manager with Stampin’ Up!® that I won the Hispanic Night Challenge from Convention 2012!  They’re sending me the set “Al Punto” from the Hispanic Catalog.  If you don’t have the Hispanic Catalog, it’s “Easy Events” on page 34 of the annual catalog, but the words are in Spanish.  I can’t wait to use it!  It will be so much fun.  Stampin’ Up!® rocks!  I know this will sound really sappy, but, while I knew I was musically creative, I thought all the visual art talent went to my brothers.  I can’t even draw believable stick people.  But with rubber stamps, ink, glue (and ribbon, brads, rhinestones, Big Shot…), I can actually create some lovely things.  And it’s much less stressful than music, because if I mess up, I just stamp over it or turn it over and no one will know.

So there you go – happy and sad news, all in one post.  I heading out to start building an ark this afternoon.  Holy cow!  I think God saved all the rain for today.  It’s really been putting it down out there.

Have a wonderful day!  Thanks for stopping by – and stay dry!
