Moonlit Daydreams

Word Play, Serene Silhouettes, moonlighting, Stampin' UpI haven’t done a “moonlight” card for a long time.  I love silhouette sets, and the Serene Silhouettes set in the Stampin’ Up!® annual catalog just called to me.  I created the card, then had no idea what sentiment to add.  It was a little dark for a birthday or get well card – or even a sympathy card.  It seemed very calm, so “Peace on earth,” seemed appropriate.  But I don’t have a stamp with that.  So… back to the stamp rack to pick something.  And the “Imagine…” stamp from Word Play just seemed to fit.

My sister-in-law just sent me pictures of my niece, who is a senior in high school this year.  It seems like only yesterday that we were sharing coffee and grits in the mornings.  She loved coffee (which was mostly milk, since she was little), so we got along great!  She was always so “grown up,” even when she was two or three, but it’s still hard to believe she’ll be 18 in a few weeks and graduating from high school in June.  She’s an amazing young lady, and I know she has a tremendously bright future ahead of her.  So this card will probably go to her, either on her birthday or for graduation.

I usually use a punched circle for the “moon,” but this time I just did it freehand with a sponge dauber.  I sponged a circle of Daffodil Delight in the center, then added more – and larger – circles with More Mustard, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant and Basic Gray.  After I finished, I overstamped the trees with Illuminate glimmer watermark pad (in the Holiday catalog), to give them a little shimmer.

This is such a fun technique!  I’m going to use it for Christmas cards, I think, with the Christmas Lodge tree.  Of course, it works with Lovely as a Tree – and any silhouette stamp.  The new Evergreen stamp in the Holiday catalog, and maybe even “First Christmas,” would be perfect, too.  Imagine the possibilities!

Have a great day – and thanks for stopping by!
