Ornament in Blue

Ornament Keepsakes, Bells & Boughs, Big Shot, Sizzix, Stampin' Up!I love using blue for Christmas cards!  My friend Darrah also posted a “Blue Christmas” card today.  I’m honestly not copying her; I just didn’t have time to work on the card I wanted to make today, and I had this one left from a few days ago.

I embossed the Whisper White layer two times – first with the Northern Flurry folder from the Stampin’ Up!® annual catalog, and then with the Holiday Frame from the Stampin’ Up!® holiday catalog.  Both folders are made by Sizzix for Stampin’ Up!®.  I made a shim for the folder by cutting 6 ovals the size of the embossed area from cardboard and gluing them together.  For my Big Shot sandwich, I skipped the bottom cutting plate and just placed the embossing folder with the card stock inside on the platform.  Then came the shim and finally the top cutting plate.  I still got a little crease, but not as much as I had been getting.  I also put the folder into the Big Shot with the open side going in first, and that way the card stock didn’t slide down and cause the embossing to be off the page.

I inked the ornament stamp with Bashful Blue, then used a sponge dauber inked with Marina Mist on the edes.  I love the way it looks!  I added some silver Dazzling Details for the ornament hanger, and a sentiment in Night of Navy.

I’m thinking this is another card Mom would like.  It’s clean and simple, and it’s blue!  (What do you think, Mom??)

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!
