I created a reverse mask for the edges of the card, then sponged Sahara Sand and Soft Suede inside the opening. Then I wheeled the Music Notes wheel over the sponged area (still with the mask in place). I used Crumb Cake ink for the music, because I wanted it to look old, and I wanted it to be behind the flowers from the Field Flowers set.
When I removed the mask, I stamped the flowers in Pretty in Pink and Perfect Plum (inside of flower), Raspberry Ripple (outline) and Old Olive (stem/leaves). For the sentiment, I used markers on the stamp – Perfect Plum and Raspberry Ripple, punched with the decorative label punch and framed it with one of the Flourish designer frames from the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday catalog.
Here’s the card –
I love the way it turned out! I think next time, I’ll make the mask a little larger. I just cut a piece of 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ scrap paper, then ripped the center out. A little repositionable adhesive on the corners made it stay put while I sponged and wheeled.
While I was at it, I made a Christmas card using the same idea.
I used River Rock to sponge this one, and Basic Gray for the music notes. The ornaments are Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler, with silver Dazzling Details inside. A few images from Christmas Lodge finish it off.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend!
