I got some time to play with Stampin’ Up!®’s My Digital Studio 2 (MDS2) today. Mike & I are in the mountains, and the only internet service we have is his air card – which we have to share. Such deprivation, right? But since I didn’t have internet access, I didn’t feel guilty at all about playing around with the new program.
I used MDS2 to create this card for an anniversary. Dad & Mom have one coming up next Sunday, so I may print it for them, but we’ll see. I’m loving the Summer Starfruit/Basic Gray color combination, so I used that combo on this card with the Daydream Medallions stamp brush set.

I used Basic Gray textured paper, then added a sheet of Whisper White over it and pulled back the opacity to tone it down a little. I recolored some parts of some of the medallion images with the coloring tool, and recolored the pearls. I love having black pearls on this card. I also recolored the satin ribbon, since I don’t have satin ribbon in Summer Starfruit.
I always want to change something on the bottom layer after it’s buried, so it’s wonderful to have the new layers tool. Here’s how you access it.

Click the icon that looks kind of like a sandwich. It will pop up a menu, and the top option is “Layers.” Click that.
After you click the “layers” option, a list of all the page components pops up in order of the layers. Just click and drag the component you want to work on to the top, do any editing, then click and drag it back to it’s proper position in the list. Easy! I used this a lot!
Another option with MDS2 that I used quite a bit today was the “Global Search” feature. It’s under the “Insert” tab. You can type in a description – like “anniversary” or “flower” and it will show you everything in the program that fits your search – stamps, paper, embellishments and punches. No more pulling out your hair because you can’t find the right stamp set or punch.
I also worked on a card using the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set this afternoon. I love the way it turned out, but it needs a bottom layer or two. Since we were only going to be here for the weekend, I didn’t want to bring too much stuff with me, so I only brought a little designer paper and some Whisper White and Very Vanilla card stock. When I get home, I’ll add the other layer(s) and then show you.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.
Nice Anniversary card. Thanks for showing the screens. I believe I’m going to like the ability to drag the layers around, or to drag a layer “out” and work on it. Can’t wait to get mine now. Thanks for the short tut.
