Accordion Fold

I found a cute pattern for an accordion fold card the other day.  Since I’m branching out into crazy folds and pop-ups, I had to make one of these.  It was easier than it looks, because I used my Big Shot and Adorning Accents edgelits.

Stamps:  Creative Elements, Thank You Kindly; Ink:  More Mustard, Soft Suede, Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride, So Saffron classic; Paper:  Very Vanilla, So Saffron card stock; Attic Boutique designer series paper*; Other:  Big Shot, Adorning Accents edgelits*, sponge, Simply Scored scoring board*, scallop oval punch (*available in the Occasions Mini catalog; other products available in the 2011-12 Stampin’ Up!® Idea Book & Catalog)

This uses an 11″ x 6″ strip of card stock, scored at 2-3/4″, 5-1/2″ and 8-1/4″.  I cut from the top of the 8-1/4″ score to 2″ from the bottom left with the edgelit die.  I covered the far left panel with Attic Boutique paper, and the 3rd panel from the left gets stamped on both sides.  That way, it looks pretty when folded, too.

Here’s the open card.  The edgelit only covered two of the three panels, so I just lined it up and sent it through the Big Shot again to cut the third panel.

Again, this is a project that looks prettier in person.  For an amateur photographer, it’s hard to photograph So Saffron and make it look good.  Especially at night.

Here’s a quick “life story” for you.  Do you ever watch people when you’re out in public?  I mean, really watch them?  I went shopping with my mom, cousins and aunt years ago, and when my aunt got tired, she sat on a bench to “people watch” while she waited for us.  When I finished, I sat with her and got so tickled at her commentary on humanity.  Just this week, two people compared me to her.  It was kind of nice, because I think we share the same quirky view of mankind.  Here’s a “case in point.”

This week, Mike & I were headed to the post office and we saw a guy walking down the street.  I am always grateful that I found my “Prince Charming,” because the pickin’s out there are pretty slim these days.  (Sorry guys!)  I told Mike, “Take this guy for example.  His pants are down around his knees getting ready to trip him, he’s smoking and carrying a gas can.”  We both looked at each other.  “Yeah, I can’t see how that could be a problem,” Mike announced – which cracked me up.  The guy could fall down any second and he’s got a lit cigarette and a gas can?  My dad would say, “When God was giving out brains, this guy thought he said ‘trains,’ and said he’d rather fly.”  Well…He just may fly.  At least he didn’t have the gas can and cigarette in the same hand.  We passed him as quickly as we could, just in case he decided to blow himself up.

I hope you find something to laugh at today.  It really is a great stress reliever.  Thanks for stopping by!

Buffy, if it were anyone else I wouldn’t be so surprised, but *you* spelled accordion wrong!? I love your card, using the edgelit on this style is brilliant! Love the colors and all the layered elements, too.
