Tissue Box Card

Even though I make covers for my tissue boxes, I still tend to pick tissues in pretty boxes.  And the latest box kind of matches the gnome cover I made for the January blog hop.  When I got it out of the closet the other day, I was really struck by the design and colors, so I decided to use it as my inspiration for a card.

Here’s the box.

I really love the colors and the flower silhouettes.  I purposely left it upstairs when I went downstairs to design a card so I’d just have the idea in my mind, not the whole box to copy.  (Oh, ok – I left it upstairs because I forgot it.  But when I thought about going back up to get it, I decided it would be better to go from memory and be creative.)

Here’s what I did with it –

Stamps:  Elements of Style, Autumn Days, Lovely as a Tree; Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke craft; VersaMark; Lucky Limeade, Not Quite Navy, Chocolate Chip, Basic Gray classic; Paper:  Lucky Limeade, Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White card stock; Other:  sponge, clear embossing powder, Tempting Turquoise embossing powder, heat tool, embossing buddy, ticket corner punch, large oval punch, small oval punch, stampin’ dimensionals, Everyday Elegance ribbon and brad pack (brads), paper piercing tool, mat pack

I stamped the trees in Always Artichoke and Chocolate Chip craft ink, and the flowers in Chocolate Chip craft, then heat embossed with clear powder.  Some of the flowers look like they’re Not Quite Navy.  The embossing powder picked up that color when I sponged over it.  Some of the trees picked up the lighter colors, too, so they’re a little less shadowy than I wanted.

I stamped the bird two times in Basic Gray ink without reinking, stamped it a third time in versamark and embossed with Tempting Turquoise powder.  The card was sponged with Lucky Limeade, Not Quite Navy, Chocolate Chip and Basic Gray classic ink.   I split the sentiment between the two tags; they’re also embossed with Tempting Turquoise.

It’s not exactly what I imagined, but it’s very close.  I think I may go back and stamp/emboss another bird, cut it out and layer it over the original so it stands out a little more.

Wow – it’s March 2, it’s been chilly all day and I just heard thunder.  What wild weather we’re having.  Yesterday was lovely, but I stayed inside all day.  I was trying to catch up from my day stuck in bed, and I think I overdid it a little.  My back and leg were pretty sore last night.  Today was better, and I’m expecting to be back to normal in the next day or two.

The good news is Sandy and I are going to Stampin’ Up!® convention!  I am totally psyched.  Sandy is so much fun and I know we’re going to have a blast.  She’s going to love convention, and she has some friends going that she’ll get to meet.  Plus we’re in the same hotel as my friends Darrah and Joanne, so I’ll finally get to meet them in person – along with a lot of my other “cyber friends.”  I’ll have to go back and look at the list of who’s coming.  To be honest, I didn’t pay a huge amount of attention to who was going and where everyone was staying, because I wasn’t sure if I was going to get to go.  It was a little depressing last year as my online friends got excited about attending.  I was thrilled for them, but my more human side was sad that I was missing out on all the fun.  And having someone to go with is even better!  I’ve really missed my friend Diane who was my roomie the first two years I was a demonstrator.  She was a hoot.  And now her grandson Kyle plays in a band with my Jon.  Isn’t the world a tiny place?

Have a wonderful day – and thanks for stopping by.
