Happy New Year!

I have to admit, I don’t think anyone in the Cooper house is sad to see the end of 2011.  It hasn’t been the best of years, although some really cool things have happened.  Mike started his real estate brokerage.  Wesley started dating Stephee.  Jon got engaged!! And I promoted to Senior Supervisor with Stampin’ Up!®.  Of course, these aren’t all the good things that happened this year.  We’ve had lots of blessings, and I want to remember them more than the bad stuff.  We’re all looking forward to a happy, healthy, prosperous and wonderful new year in 2012, though!

Here’s a card that uses the new doily embossing folder and butterfly punch.  What?  You looked all through the mini catalog and didn’t see a doily embossing folder or a new butterfly punch?  Well – look at this.

Stamps:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, Creative Elements; Ink:  Concord Crush, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade; Paper:  Cheerful Treat designer series paper; Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Vellum card stock; Other:  Blossom Punch*, Sale-a-bration ribbon & brad pack+, Printed designer brads, Paper Doily sizzlet, Big Shot, word window punch, modern label punch, stampin’ dimensionals, impressions pad  (*available Jan. 4 – April 30 in the Occasions mini catalog; +available Jan. 24 – March 31 as a free Sale-a-bration item; all other products available in the 2011-12 Stampin’ Up!® Idea Book & Catalog)

To create the butterfly, I stamped the swirl from Creative Elements on vellum card stock in Wisteria Wonder classic ink.  Then I punched a blossom with the new blossom punch from the vellum and from Wisteria Wonder card stock.  After I sponged the edges of the Wisteria Wonder flower with more Wisteria Wonder ink, I clipped the top and bottom petals from each blossom to create a butterfly.  Smart idea, right?  I got it from the Occasions mini catalog (p. 16).

The doily embossing was created with the new Paper Doily large sizzlet die.  I ran it through the Big Shot on Tab 1 with the Impressions Pad instead of a top cutting plate, and it embossed it beautifully!  Now that I know you can do that, there are several sizzlets that I’m going to emboss with!

Don’t forget you only have a few more days to order from the Holiday mini catalog.  And the Clearance Rack blitz prices will be ending on Jan. 5, so take advantage of the low prices today!

Have a wonderful year, and thanks for stopping by.

Clever, indeed!!!! An adorable, uniquely different butterfly.. Did the DSP inspire the awesome colors? Or did you choose them first? Nice card.

Age old question…Which came first – the dsp or the inspiration? I wanted a Wisteria Wonder butterfly, then chose the paper to match. The paper inspired the Concord Crush and Lucky Limeade.
