Vintage Inchies

I’m going to brag a little.  Since I’m a Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator, I’ve already seen (and have a copy) of the Occasions mini catalog, and I’ve seen the Sale-a-bration catalog.  And I got to place an order from the Occasions mini this morning.  AND I got some free SAB items already!  I don’t know how to make that “AND” even more bold and obvious – but I also got a free stamp set, a container of vintage brads and a container of printed In Color brads as a prize for booking and holding workshops in October and November.  Pretty sweet, huh?  Plus hostess credits.  Whew.  I was so excited that I forgot to order Occasions mini catalogs and Sale-a-bration brochures to give out.  My dear friend, Sandy, is going to add them to her order, though, so I’ll have them in plenty of time for you to order in January!  True confession time:  I usually splurge and pay an extra $20 for two day delivery when I place a preorder.  Since this is Thursday, though, I knew the order wouldn’t arrive until Monday.  So I doubled that and really splurged on next day air.  *sigh*  It’s a sickness.  I did take two sets off my list that more than covered the shipping costs, so I really saved money, right?

I wanted to make a collage card, but I also wanted to use some of my Beau Chateau designer series paper.  I was reminded of “inchies” in a magazine today, so thought it would be fun to incorporate those, too.  I guess these aren’t really inchies.  They’re more like “multiple inchies bunched together.”

Stamp sets:  Creative Elements; Hello, Doily;  Artistic Etchings, Tiny Tags, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Music Notes wheel; Ink:  Soft Suede, Regal Rose, Marina Mist, Blushing Bride, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake classic; Versamark; Paper:  Beau Chateau designer series paper; Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Marina Mist, Soft Suede card stock; Other:  Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, 2-3/8″ scallop circle punch, Boho Blossoms punch, basic jewels – pearls, Dazzling Details*, 1″ square punch*, stamp-a-ma-jig, sponge, stampin’ dimensionals, mini glue dots, gold embossing powder, heat tool, embossing buddy (*available in the holiday mini catalog; all other products are available in the 2011-12 Stampin’ Up!® Idea Book & Catalog)

Wait!!  Where are the inchies??  This is the outside, the collage part.  It’s a great card for using up scraps!  I stamped the music notes and doily in Soft Suede, then the Eiffel Tower and “amour” in Basic Gray.  I heat embossed the flourish from Creative Elements with gold powder, and then sponged ink over the front.

I meant to punch the scallops on the scallop circles with the crop-a-dile, but totally forgot.  I worked on this card in stages; whenever I had 5-10 minutes free, I added an element.  The scallop circles were embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder, and were supposed to be “handles” to open the gatefold card.  But I didn’t like the way they were sticking up, so I glued them down to the card.

Here’s the inside –

I just added the “inchies” to the insides of the flaps and the bottom, then added another piece of designer series paper with the stamped sentiment.  It looks like a lot of work, but the card is really very easy to create.   With a collage card, if you mess up, you can just keep stamping, and it looks great.

If you’re a “literalist,” I know these aren’t really “inchies.”  Inchies are little 1″ x 1″ creations (and would be wonderful in our Simply Adorned charms!); these are just 1″ squares of punched paper added to a card.  I like having the different patterns and colors inside, though.  They’re a little simpler than the front of the card, which has a lot going on.  But there’s still enough interest that it doesn’t make you feel a little disappointed because it’s too simple inside.

Don’t forget our party Saturday, Dec. 3 and Wednesday, Dec. 7 (both at 10 a.m.).  We’ll have a lot of fun.  Wendy will be bringing refreshments, so you know the food will be awesome.  We’re making a tree ornament, an ornament tag, and a card using more Beau Chateau paper and fabric.  There will be gifts and prizes and…well, you just have to join us to see.  If you bring a friend (even if it’s you!) who becomes a new club member, you’ll get another prize.

Have a wonderful day – and thanks for stopping by!
