Faux Stenciling

Wow, yesterday was a crazy day.  I finally got home about 11 last night and still had one more project to finish before morning.  At 3, I realized I hadn’t posted any projects.  I thought about sharing some Stampin’ Up!® news, but I opted for sleep instead.

Here’s the news – the Free Big Shot or $100 in product promotion has been extended until November 11!  You can join my team online and start enjoying the benefits of being a demonstrator right away!

I’m very proud of the way this turned out.  I wanted to recreate Margaret’s stencil card, but I don’t have any ornament stencils.  Instead, I used a punch and stamp and “faux stenciled” this one.

Stamp sets:  Sincere Salutations, Delightful Decorations, Creative Elements, Bells & Boughs, Christmas Lodge*; Ink:  Pacific Point, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake classic; Night of Navy stampin’ write marker; Paper:  Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Very Vanilla card stock; Other:  Scallop trim border punch, ornament punch, extra large (wide) oval punch, sponge, basic rhinestones, Crumb Cake seam binding ribbon  (*available in the Holiday mini catalog; all other products available in the 2011-12 Stampin’ Up!® Idea Book & Catalog)

One of our techniques this week will be the faux stenciling.  I stamped on the Very Vanilla, then punched an ornament from scrap card stock and used the negative as a stencil to add a little more ink.  Since my ornament is shorter than the stencil Margaret used, I added the punched sentiment at the bottom.  That’s really all that’s different from Margaret’s card, though.

Yesterday I got cards from my friends Robin and April.  They both look like Christmas gifts.  I can’t wait to post all the swaps I’ve gotten.  I think I may have to just post several in a day.  My friends are so creative and talented!  You can see more of their projects if you go to the “llama holiday hop” page.

Have a warm and wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by.
