Gratitude

I found out a few weeks ago about a company that closed suddenly.  It was sad, because I hate to see anyone go out of business.  It reminded me of a story from the boys’ childhood.  Thank goodness they don’t read my blog!  They may cut off my internet access.  (Oh, wait…I pay the bill.  They can’t cut me off!)

The boys were always looking for ways to make more money when they were little.  They got an allowance, but sometimes they just needed a little more money than we could supply.  So, being sons of entrepreneurs, they started they own businesses.  Jon took old apple crates and fixed them up to sell.  He made enough money doing that to buy whatever it was that he wanted at the time.

Wesley decided to sell backrubs when he was about six years old.  He sold them for $.25 each.  After I bought one and got a nice backrub, he decided to sell lifetime backrubs for $1.  Well, I hated to take advantage of the boy, but a backrub any time I wanted one – for life?  For only $1?  It was too good to pass up.  I bought one of his lifetime passes (so did Mike and several other family members), and got my first backrub.  I went back several days later for the next one, and he responded, “Oh, I’m sorry.  We’ve gone out of business.” And I thought I had taken advantage of him.  Silly me.

Hearing the news about the company that closed and thinking about Wesley’s massage business makes me so grateful that Stampin’ Up!® is a strong company.  They have no debt, only raise prices when they absolutely have to, offer the best products they possibly can (and Shelli Gardner’s standards are quite high!), and provide so much training and benefits to demonstrators.  It’s lovely to have a flexible schedule and know that I can’t lose my job unless I choose to.  And the extra money comes in very handy!  I know it’s not for everybody, but it’s great for me!  If you think this sounds like something you’d be interested in, give me a shout!  I’d love to chat with you about the opportunity.  There’s also a wonderful video and more information on my web site.  Just click, “Join the Fun” under the “Join the Fun” tab.

This is a card we made for club.  It’s paper pieced a little so the container could be embossed with the new pewter embossing powder.  And I love the way the Crystal Effects and chocolate glitter look like antique tacks.

Hope you’re having a wonderful week!  We’re getting lots of rain.  It seems we got really hit with it in the spring, had a dry summer, and now we’re getting all the rain we needed over the summer.  It’s nice, but I would like a dry day or two so we could mow.

Thanks for stopping by!
