Everyone in my house loves to exercise – except me. The guys love to lift weights, and they run on the treadmill and take walks with the dog. Jon did the 90 day P90X program last year and loved it. I watched him and was amazed. Does that count? I don’t like to sweat. I love having muscles and being toned, but I don’t like the pain that goes with it. And the time it takes – especially as one ages. Good grief. There are so many other things I’d rather be doing. I mean, you have to do the stupid workout, then take a shower, then take a little nap and get a snack. It’s a serious commitment. So I loved this program my friend Patti sent me.
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags. Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I’m at this level.)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag. I think I can do the 100-lb bag!! Not sure about adding the potatoes, though.
But stamping, now…that’s a workout! I’m up, I’m down, I’m sponging ink and getting a great arm workout. I don’t think it’s very aerobic; maybe I should run up and down the stairs between colors.
Speaking of sponging…Here’s a CASE (copy) of my friend Kathe’s swap. I didn’t have the same paper she had, so I improvised a bit.
Stamp sets: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Nature’s Pace, Music Notes wheel; Ink: Early Espresso, Pool Party classic; Paper: More Mustard, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla card stock; Spice Cake designer series paper*; Other: Top Note die, Big Shot, curly label punch, linen thread, stampin’ dimensionals, stampin’ sponge, stampin’ around handle (*Holiday mini catalog; all other products available in the 2011-12 Stampin’ Up!® Idea Book & Catalog)
I love the stamped image on the stamped background (or, on Kathe’s card, on the background paper). I have a wreath made from the spice cake designer series paper to show you tomorrow. It’s still drying right now (lots of glue and Dazzling Details used on that one!), but I think it should be dry by morning.
Oh – here’s some great news for you! If you didn’t get to order The Open Sea from the summer mini catalog, you have another chance! It will be carried over as a “write-in” item until July 2012. I’m really happy about that. It’s a great set for more masculine cards, and very vintage also.
Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by.
