Safe Travels

I was reading an article the other day about how to be safe when you travel.  One of the topics was bedbugs.  This creeped me out, but I kept reading.  The author suggested that you carry a picture of a bedbug with you when traveling so you will recognize one if you see it.

I don’t know about you, but if I see anything crawling around in the bed, I’m packing my bags, going to the manager and getting my money back.  Then I’m washing everything I can in hot water and lots of detergent.  Anything that can’t get washed will probably be thrown away.  I’m absolutely not going to ask the thing to pose beside the picture, so I can ascertain if it’s really a bedbug or just a bug in my bed.  In my opinion, any bug crawling in my bed is a bedbug.

And can you imagine pulling your pictures out of your wallet to show your friends?  “These are my boys; aren’t they handsome?  I’m so proud of them.  And this one is Mike.  I took this on our last vacation.  And here’s Hoss; he’s lost a little weight since that photo.  And this…oh, well, that’s a picture of a bedbug named Pete.  I just wanted to be sure I’d recognize him if I ran into him at a motel.”

No thank you.  I don’t want to see bedbugs – in photos or otherwise, so I’m not carrying it around in my wallet.  Or even in my suitcase.  It’s just, well…creepy.

This swap from my friend Kath Ricks, however, is not creepy.  It’s downright gorgeous.  Kath is my demo friend I mentioned the other day whose watercoloring is so incredible.  I’m not sure if it comes across in the photo, but in person, this little bird looks 3-D.
