Going Postal

This card has been worked and re-worked so many times, it should say, “Whew!!” instead of thanks!  I finally had it the way I liked it, and then Rachel saw it.  She suggested since I had already scored the little folded up triangles, I should cut them and adhere them to alternate colors.  She’s so clever.  Since I already had a couple extra sets that I had discarded, I just pulled them out of the “oops file” (trash can), cut them and adhered to the folded flaps.  It could use a little more work, but here’s the finished product.

Stamp sets:  Love & Care, Pretty Postage; Ink:  Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi classic; Basic Gray stampin’ write marker; Paper:  Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Wild Wasabi, Baja Breeze card stock; Other:  Mat pack, paper piercing tool, stampin’ dimensionals, postage stamp punch, brads – neutrals; tag corner punch (retired, but you can get the same results just snipping off the corner)

I love these colors together.  They feel “cool” to me – which is nice today.  Yesterday, my card made me feel warm, and today – cool.  It’s incredibly hot out there today, and our A/C just isn’t keeping up really well.  I went out to dig a thistle that I had seen in the flower bed.  Actually, I went out to give Mike a glass of water, because I knew he needed one after being out for an hour or so cleaning out the van.  And while I was there, I saw his tool pouch, grabbed a screwdriver and went after the thistle.  Holy cow!  I didn’t realize I was going to have to dig to China.  And while I was there, I saw several more thistles.  Where are these things coming from?  Our yard is a mess (long story), and I honestly think it would be quicker and easier to just kill all the grass and start over.  Several years ago, the boys and I bought grass seed to fill in the patchy areas.  I’m curious if we accidentally got weed seed, because ever since, it’s been mostly weeds.  But, like my friend Sandy says, when it’s mowed, who can tell?  Green is green.  I like the way she thinks!

Anyway – I got all the thistles and most of the weeds from the flower bed and several thistles from the yard, and decided that was enough for today.  After all the whining we’ve done this spring about the precipitation, I hate to say it, but we need a nice rainstorm to cool things off.  (Wow – these Virginians just can’t be pleased, can they?)

Have a wonderful day!  I’m off to make a nice salad to hold me over until we grill later.  Some of my friends have banded together to hold each other accountable with eating and exercising and weight loss.  Guess that means I’m eventually going to have to brave the scales to see how bad it really is.  Bleh.

Thanks for stopping by!
